Do you know your ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act)?  Or do you not even want to know what the latest from Washington is?  Either way, some important educational practices are going to change.  ESSA replaces

NCLB (No Child Left Behind).  The changes will probably happen slowly, but the policy makers have decided that the current situation is not working well.  Perhaps detailed goals and objectives that start in Kindergarten and require endless assessments are not realistic.  Under ESSA many funding decisions will be transferred to state levels, but, more importantly, the general idea is to loosen up the mandates a little and allow more flexibility.  Let us all hope!
